indigenera
is a consulting
business in biodiversity conservation, named by combining
“indigenous” with “genera” in order to convey concern for the
precarious future of native plants and animals.
Because most land in New York is owned privately, indigenera
aims to provide
information and services to individual landowners and landowning groups
who wish to restore healthy natural functioning to their lands and,
wherever possible, reconnect ecosystems that are separated by
intervening, conflicting land uses.

Re-connect and re-wild fragments Much can yet be done in central New York to re-connect fragments of woodland or grassland and piece together a re-wilded natural landscape. If you believe this, or are inclined to do so, while also recognizing the fraudulent claims to "sustainability" made everywhere by powerful corporations and leaders who fail to acknowledge the rapacity of an economy that grows only by feeding on the environment, then indigenera can be an ally.
Opening the Biodiversity link accesses the vision of indigenera: the unpleasant realities that make it necessary, its aspirations and practices.
Click on the Assumptions link for a list of inconvenient truths about American treatment of the environment that were compiled from recent publications. Their dissenting views support the arguments that underpin indigenera.
At the Readings link two commentators explain why wind turbines are a scam. Also at the Readings tab are the bibliographic references of those critics whose works are cited in the Assumption link.
Three links try to make connections between nature and human ecology. At the Thoughts link, I share recent observations made in my ongoing study of nature and begin piecing these into patterns. It is my intention periodically to update this link's content. At the Riparian link, I note that water bodies are sites where reconnecting natural features across property boundaries can begin. Finally, at the Community link, I propose that nucleated agricultural villages are the destiny toward which positively directed trends in the agricultural landscape are heading. In a related proposal that I made to DeRuyter Free Library, I offer a Vision Statement for a return to agricultural communities that offer a safe, secure, and sustainable food supply. It is the first entry on the Readings page.
The Products link and the Services link offer ways in which you and I can work together to make changes in the local environment. The Contact link has an email address and a mailing address for indigenera.
